More time in Antarctica, less time crossing the Drake

Fly between Punta Arenas and King George Island instead of spending roughly four days sailing both ways across the Drake Passage. This itinerary preserves seven nights aboard a small expedition ship, giving the expedition team a broader window to work with weather, ice and wildlife conditions.

IMPORTANT FLIGHT CONTINGENCY

Weather windows require flexibility

Antarctic aviation is weather-dependent. Guests may need to remain on standby at the airport or another designated location. For the seven-night Drake Express program, the last scheduled outbound flight attempt is normally itinerary Day 3. If the flight cannot operate, Atlas may offer rebooking, an alternative expedition or the applicable refund under its contingency policy.

  • Book flexible onward flights and allow a buffer after the journey.
  • Purchase insurance covering delay, cancellation, interruption and rebooking costs.
  • Self-arranged hotels, meals and flight changes remain the guest's responsibility unless otherwise stated.
  • Atlas and the captain retain the right to sail across the Drake Passage when operationally necessary.
